I made some KnB icons!

I haven't made fandom icons in far too long. I've been too distracted by making hipster things and not wanting to mess with Muse fandom icons that I forgot how satisfying the process of making icons from manga images can be. Text! Colors! Textures!!!!

Okay, enjoy these, I'm freaking stoked over them.

The rest are here @ [community profile] baller

Oh no I'm writing an AoKise ficlet whaaaaat

[fic] Rainbow's End (Prologue + 01)

Title: Rainbow's End
Auhor: [personal profile] saikou
Fandom: Kuroko no Basket
Rating: PG for now.
Pairing: Kagami/Kuroko and some strange combination of Aomine thrown in there as well.
Words: 4000~
Crossposted: Tumblr and LJ
Summary: Kuroko no Coffehouse A/U

A/N: I feel like I need to sit everyone down and explain this first. Most important thing to explain, before anything else, is that I am largely incapable of writing anything short. So this is destined to be long. Really long. The premise is “Coffeehouse A/U”, because I realized that I’ve been fandom life for over a decade and have never written a coffeehouse A/U (what is wrong with me). Now, because I can’t do anything halfway, I took the concept way too far.

Set in America. The West, at any rate. This seems inconsequential to me. I write what I know, and setting an entire novel in Japan was enough. Their names remain. Now, since I had no idea what to do with coffeehouse people, I again went to what I know.

Kagami is a successful sports journalist starting his first novel. He sets up workshop in the Rainbow’s End coffeehouse, which is probably the most pretentiously hipster place he could have imagined ending up. There he makes some acquaintances that will throw all of his plans off track, but not exactly in a bad way…

Instead of being King B-Ball Swag in this universe, Aomine is King Hipster. I think that alone is worth the price of admission. Let’s begin.

[excerpt] Ma'mon Flashback from The Nothing Children

Title: Untitled Ma'mon Flashback
Auhor: [personal profile] saikou
Universe: The Nothing Children
Rating: G
Characters: Demide - Ko'mied - Sayan
Words: 1600
Summary: Demide and Ko'mied are 4th year Provisionals, and a chance meeting in the practice studio introduces them to the possibility of incredible things.

A/N: The Ma'mon are just my favorite thing in The Nothing Children. The concept is a creation entirely of TNC, though the characters of Ko'mied and Demide both have foundations elsewhere in the former COLOR Universe canon. This flashback was something I needed to write, just to satisfy my own curiosity about how they met and how to describe their individual talents outside of Silios' perspective. I'm still trying to figure out whether I want to include a few different flashbacks like this (in 3rd person) within the story.

Anyway, enjoy if you wish!

Unbelievably, Ko’mied obeyed. He didn’t even question it; it was simply like, in that moment, both of them knew what needed to be done. What needed to be done was whatever Sayan said. )

[fic] Empire City: The Heights -03-

Title: Empire City: The Heights
Author: Vee
Rating: R
Genre: Contemporary, Dark, Mystery
Chapter: 03
Summary: Our universe is a system of thieves and liars, killers and whores, and you're staring into the sun. Giancarlo Salomon is dead, and no one even has the illusion of choice anymore. The king is dead, and until we know who needs to suffer, everyone will. Where is everyone, Chief Templeton? Can you tell me the crevices The Empire has disappeared to? Until you can, let's play this game.
POV: Transcript

A/N: There phone conversations lay so much of the plot foundation, here. Some of it may require some jigsawing with the Empire City timeline, but all in all I have to say I'm happy with the little web that's been woven. Julian, you're beautiful and so, so dangerous. These two are a formidable pair, but as you can see, their mutual distaste for trusting the other very often gets in

There's going to come a day that I'll say “Come back, Julian. Come back and I'll help you straighten this out.” )

[fic] Strut

Title: Strut
Auhor: [personal profile] saikou
Fandom: Kuroko no Basket
Rating: NC-17
Pairing: Kagami/Aomine
Words: 2000
Summary: Kagami congratulates Aomine on a very flashy win in his own special way.

A/N: Another fill for a kink meme prompt! I was super busy with writing gay basketball yesterday, it seems...! Now this one, I do ship. Kagami and Aomine are basically the embodiment of my #1 ship "type", so I couldn't resist! Especially since this prompt was asking for two of my other favorite things. *tugs at collar* This one was satisfying to write.

I was just trying to win. )

[fic] Disappointing

Title: Disappointing
Auhor: [personal profile] saikou
Fandom: Kuroko no Basket
Rating: NC-17
Pairing: Kagami/Akashi, implied Kuroko/Kagami, implied GoM/Akashi
Words: 3800
Summary: In the immortal words of our lord and savior Kanyesus: look, you need to crawl 'fore you ball.

A/N: Fill for a kink meme prompt. I don't even ship Kagami/Akashi. In fact, fandom at large knows so little about Akashi still, there's a lot of artistic license involved unless you want to incorporate scissors and/or eye-gouging (hooray for canon insanity). I do, however, ship Kagami/Kuroko and GoM/Akashi in general, so I managed to pull both of those together and twist the implications around to facilitate the incredibly appealing idea of Kagami/Akashi body worship (which was the prompt).

Akashi was beyond feelings. He was armored by indifference to those beneath him. He was the Monkey King. He was divine. )

[filtered] The Nothing Children 06

The Nothing Children

Author's Notes: The story's trekking (twerking) along nicely at this point. Better than I'd been prepared for, actually. I got rather pessimistic about this lovely little universe for a bit, but I'm trying to turn that around. My only worry is that the world seems too convoluted or too dense with fact and not enough action. Those may be my misgivings only, but if you have any concerns please let me know. I want this story to be great and I've already tweaked and reforged so much that it only seems natural for me to keep doing so. So yes, let me know please!

Introducing my beloved Demit'che in this chapter. ;) I have a thing for jackasses, but I promise you he'll grow on you.

Enjoy, and always be Colora. ♥

The Nothing Children
Glossary of Terms

This glossary is unfiltered but the story is still being posted to a filter while I work out the kinks (heh, no not figuratively, this is quite PG thank you); if you want to read it, holla. I'd always love another set of eyes on it.

Soon I really hope to also have an Audio or Video guide to pronunciation of names and words. I'll need to either look awesome for that or get a better microphone. XD If I looked like any of the main characters I'd say I'd be cosplaying for it.

[pimp post] Kuroko no Basket has Kidnapped Me

Where have I been? Where have I NOT been? Working my tail off last week for Black Friday etc, and now this week I'm absolutely bereft of hours at either job! D: I can't figure it out, either. But somewhere in there, I managed to start a new series (OH NOOOOO).

I mean, what is happening to me? The peak of my animuness was in 2005 or so, before Monster ruined me for all other series and then Band of Brothers stole me away *wistfully reaches out for fandoms abandoned*. Somehow recently I've been trying to reclaim what used to make me happy, and anime was one of those things. Even when I didn't have the money to pour thousands of dollars into the hobby (wow I remember that), it just made me really happy.

Turns out that Sportsball Anime and Manga are pretty much my heroin.

I started to see a lot of talk about "Kuroko no Basket" on my Tumblr dash when I began to follow several Prince of Tennis fans recently. I resisted for a long time. I really did, I swear I did! I was too busy crying about Sanada and Yukimura and endlessly analyzing the dialogue in the OVAS nbd.

Then one day I was like "fine. FINE. How many episodes are there? Oh, there are only 25 episodes. Well, maybe I can do this."

I did it, I went in.

And oh MY GOD GAY SPORTSBALL ANIME, what are you doing to me? So here, you're going to hear about it too because it's glorious. Not in a Prince of Tennis way. Prince of Tennis is like the really ugly kitten in the litter that you love just because he's so adorably awkward and everyone else hates him. No, if that kitten is Prince of Tennis then Kuroko no Basket is the most beautiful cat, prancing around and telling you he's hungry all the time and guess what? You're feeding him, because you are powerless against that kitten's charm.

What the Hell is this series called? Kuroko no Basuke, which literally translates to "The Basketball Which Kuroko Plays" (that is actually, in English, all over the title screens of the show. It's sort of embarrassing, but I mean, it's what it says on the tin). ALSO KNOWN AS: Kuroko no Basuke, Kurobas, Kurobasu, Rainbow Basketball (>__>)

What is this about? Is it about guys running around with a basketball and flinging sweat that somehow turns into bishounen sparkles? Ye- NO. NO NOT ENTIRELY. The show is about the titular Kuroko Tetsuya, who joins the Seirin High School Baskbetball Club (IT'S SET IN HIGH SCHOOL, so it's not quite as creepy and weird as Prince of Tennis). Turns out that Kuroko was the phantom sixth man of the legendary Teiko Middle School Basketball Team known as the Generation of Miracles (aka Sekai no Sedai, or Skittles. I'm not lying, fandom likes to call them the Skittles and I think that's ADORABLE).

Only you wouldn't know it, because he sort of sucks. He has no presence, people forget he's there, he has no sense of humor and he can't shoot, run, or dribble. BUT WAIT. Turns out that the eponymous "Kuroko no Basuke" is his style of misdirection and passing, which enables the power forward to fucking dominate, and the team to basically shit all over everyone else. Kuroko chooses American-taught transplant and fellow first year Kagami Taiga to be his new partner, much to Kagami's initial chagrin. All Kagami wants to do is stomp the Generation of Miracles, because that's what Kagami does. He stomps bitches.

And that's where the gay series starts. With the little-known Seirin team acquiring not only the monstrously awesome Kagami, but also one of the Generation of Miracles. They go to battle. As you do in sportsball anime.

Do not underestimate it when I say this show is just shipping its own characters all over the place for your convenience )

On trying to get fit again (a bit of a long one)

Recently I decided to start running again. Part of this is due to the fact that the weather is baller right now, and I run so much better in colder weather than I do in hot. I don't mind sweating, mind, but I do mind the humidity in Florida which makes the air feel like it's sitting on your shoulders and laughing at you. Also, no use in hiding it, two other things combined pretty perfectly to motivate me: one, The Nothing Children's progress, though stalled for NaNoWriMo, is still happening. I feel the need to start dancing again in order to feel the sort of things I need to be writing about as Silios trains and learns from a totally beginner perspective. I used to dance so much, and finally I'm back to that. It's one of the reasons I wanted the big upstairs master bedroom, and now that I have it my depression has kept me from actually using it to that end for months. But I'm back, baby! Two, I'm watching Prince of Tennis again, and so help me god my interest in that series always makes me want to do my oshis proud and get off my ass. So here I am, actually training again.

At Yankee Candle (where I'm assistant manager now, in case anyone missed the awesome memo! Even though all hours have been cut and I'm still just barely scarping by oi...) my manager is Carole. She's an expat Brit in her mid-50's, blonde and super adorable. And she's a triathlete. She started training when she was in her mid-40's after leaving university halfway through her second year working on her PhD. She had massive depression as well. She was accomplishing ~everything~ in life but felt incredibly empty. So she took her sabbatical and stayed at home, shut herself in for a month or two. Then one day she happened to see a sign advertising for a triathlon in her county. She told herself "I could do that" and started to train. She was 44 when she ran her first solid mile, and 45 when she completed her first triathlon. While training she fell into a retail job selling sports shoes. And she finished her PhD three years later. Carole is amazing and she is inspiring me so much.

Yes, I lost a lot of weight after dad's stroke. It was a massive amount of weight. But the way I did it was not the best for me. I deprived myself of so much. I just stopped eating, and when I did eat I was missing a lot of key things. I will still say I stand by it as a means to drop weight if you are inactive, like I was, but if you ever want to pick back up on life and not feel lightheaded every time you do something more physically demanding than walking up the stairs (boy I almost passed out so much, ha), take the physical fitness route instead. I know my diet is still not ideal (I would much rather be eating more greens, but those are expensive and I can barely afford peanut butter), but I feel much more comfortable eating 1500 calories a day than I did eating 700 and then feeling frail and breathless all the time. When I went into the hospital I was weak as a baby bird, so said my blood tests.

The only problem is, it's really time consuming. I have to devote at least an hour and a half to working out every night. Not that this is a bad thing. Not at all! When you get serious about it, Two hours at the gym followed by an afternoon nap before you wake up super early the next day to do two more hours on the track is normal. But when life is essentially "COMPUTER," oh man it takes effort. I have to cut conversations short and tear myself away from things that are really fun.

But working out is giving me an awesome excuse to listen to music a lot. So I do love that part.

Another problem is that I need better shoes. D: I've been giving my left knee HELL because I need better shock resistance in my ankles (I stand like a dancer, still, and I run like a dancer. It's not healthy for the knees because I'm not used to bending them easily D:)

To balance out the muscle stiffness that's setting in because of the shock of FITNESS LIFE suddenly after years of being a lazy ass, I'm dancing every time I go out to train, focusing on flexibility and my knees. The difference is startling already. I've only really been training for three weeks, and already I'm just loving it.

I'm eating more, too. That'll take a good month for my metabolism to reconcile, but I'm not going to worry about it for now. I was getting extremely unhappy with my body as it was, because while I was heavier my body was SOLID, at least. As a size 8 I was suddenly flabby everywhere and I hated it. I've seen both sides of that, and decided I would rather be solid and beefier than skinny and cushy. I'm a strong independent magical girl who don't need no senpai.

Also there was an intense lawn care session yesterday afternoon, and I never expected what a toll on my arm an hour with a weedeater would take. HOLY CRAP I feel like my arm's gonna fall off STILL. I need to get stronger, and my upper body has always been a JOKE. I can barely lift a pack of water bottles when I come home from the store. Oi.

So yeah... tl;dr I'm RUNNING AGAIN YAAAYYY :D

I have so many reasons to be displeased with LJ, but I just can't really deal with the new friends page or the dissolution of paid accounts and account perks. I've put too much money into the site over the last decade+, yada yada yada. So let me know your DW account names? I'll still be cross-posting to this LJ, so you'll still be able to see everything, but if you have a DW and want to be friends over there, let me know!

[fic] Empire City (2012) § 10/13

Title: Empire City
Author: Vee
Rating: NC-17
Genre: Contemporary, Dark
Chapter: 10/13
Summary: This city is not without its secrets, from the sordid and personal to the sort of thing that would call down the wrath of God. Everyone's connected, whether they know it or not, and whether they like it or not. Where does the shiny surface end and the underbelly begin? Where do the respectable become the deplorable? Where is that place in between, where murderers, prostitutes, and drug dealers dictate their own class system, their own law? Well, that might just be here.
Warnings: Sex, drugs, and more sex. :D
POV: Joe

A/N: Eek, I went a few days without updating, and before I knew it, it was November 3rd! It's all right because I've already finished Chapter One of The Heights, which will be ready for posting just as soon as I've gotten Empire City all up and fly. This chapter features one of my favorite OT3s from the fandom that preceded it... *bites knuckle* yeah, sometimes the plotting in Empire City was done with the express purpose of driving certain characters into bed together. Read and enjoy!

Title: Empire City

Summary: This city is not without its secrets, from the sordid and personal to the sort of thing that would call down the wrath of God. Where is that place in between, where murderers, prostitutes, and drug dealers dictate their own class system, their own law? Well, that might just be here.
Warnings: Allusions to prostitution and pederasty. Evan and Julian shared something of a psychologically - and then physically - abusive relationship. ymmv on how much of a warning that merits. Other than that, Evan keeps it classy.

POV: Evan

A/N: So what's up between Evan and Julian that it could actually impact the inner workings of The Empire? What we desperately want to know about The Empire's most intriguing member can only be explained by the man who knows him in ways no one else can claim... as told to the man who only thinks he does.

I like this chapter. I like Evan's voice. I like his classy ennui. I like that all roads lead to Evan, really. ALL ROADS. In so many ways this is the linchpin chapter. If you have your character relationship charts handy, you might get to fill in a few lines here. ;) The big reveal behind Alistair's history is forthcoming...!

POV: Cory and Kiki

A/N: Some of these names are really pleasing me, in their new forms. Julian Kendrick is among them, the name just sounds right. :3 Well, this one was interesting to edit because I had to finally add last names in places, considering The Empire's way of nettling each other with full names, etc. So that's why I'm focusing on the names in the A/N. Beyond that, though, take a look at some more foreshadowing about The Heights in here, ooo hoo hoo hoo!
